Anyone who has spent more than a
little time in online discussion will probably have come across this little
nugget:
You don’t have the right to not be offended.
It’s true; you don’t.
Saying something that you know is
going to upset people can be a powerful way of getting your point across and
making people think.
It can be.
However, using the ‘you don’t have the
right to not be offended’ argument is usually the last (if
not the first) refuge of a jerk.
